The successful candidate will join the Analytical Characterization group within the company's research and development organization. This position will be a key member of the chromatography and wet chemistry laboratory for the qualitative and quantitative analyses of small organic compounds, additives, degradation products and impurities in complex polymer matrices. The position will also entail the development and the validation of analytical methods used for the development & stability study of medical devices and to lead the transfer of analytical methods to the manufacturing plants. The candidate is expected to keep abreast of new scientific and technological developments in the field of chromatography and continuously improve the organization's capabilities in test method development & validation. The candidate will perform hands on experiments independently while collaborating and/or mentoring other analytical associates. This position will participate on New Product Development project teams and in that role will interact with cross-functional R&D; development teams, develop the analytical strategy and coordinate all of the analytical characterization activities to support product development. This position will demonstrate strong technical leadership to enable product innovation and to solve a wide range of complex analytical problems.
Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in chemistry or materials science with at least 5 years of relevant experience OR MS degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience is required
Fundamental chemistry knowledge and the ability to identify the appropriate analytical methods and make relevant measurements to provide data and information that drive technical solutions is required
In-depth understanding as well as extensive hands-on experience of chromatographic separation and quantitative analytical techniques are required
Hands on Experience with gas chromatography, liquid chromatography or UPLC is required
Familiarity with wet chemistry techniques/principles is required
Test method development and validation experience is required
Familiarity with other characterization techniques such as FTIR, MS and spectroscopic techniques is preferred
Experience working in a Regulated Industry (Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Biotech, Chemical etc) is required
Knowledge of GLP/GMP is preferred
Previous experience in cross function collaboration with internal and external partners is preferred
Technical writing skills, effective communication and interpersonal / team work skills is required
Up to 10% travel is required
